This project examines the idea of designing a building as an object. Some of the questions that were explored during the project were: are buildings understood as objects within an urban context? Does the architect need to design the building by only taking into consideration the building’s surroundings? Will this necessarily mean the building will serve its users better than one that was planned as an object?
The project is designed with different types of unit sizes connected by a shared co-living space. The thought process is to create, in these shared co-living environments, shared communal spaces while distilling the apartments down to their basic needs in order to allow for more opportunities for interaction between residents. This creates the basis for
communities to thrive in.
