Space Objects

The project is a speculation for an addition and alteration to a Hong Kong housing estate to accommodate for the growing density of the city and to re-originate the towers through methods of model making and photography. The design focuses on the “intensely cohesive urban void spaces” or Space Objects between the towers and uses a close reading of the existing structure and its graphic coloration as a driving force for design exploration. The color itinerary for the proposed project is focused in a compressed area. Drawing inspiration from the Chinese pagoda elements such as the curved roof and the bracketing and identifying how color is applied. The mineral-patina coloration is applied to challenge the viewer in understanding the old vs the new.
